The sculpture garden revisited

At about this time last year, I was fortunate enough to start a miniature sculpture garden in my back yard.

Many people had seen the wooden tree stump of my 3 children and the imaginary girl named 'Hope' in my my front yard. They were created more than 15 years ago, had not weathered well and now had to be tied with a rope.

I wish they could last forever; but they were not made of bronze, stone or cement like the ones at Vigeland Park in Oslo, Norway.

This year the art auction for the local PBS station showcased 4 pieces of sculptures. I won the bids for two of them.

The first piece was an 'expanded metal, curving jib, the molten steel waves', titled "In the lead" by a Steel Yard artist, Ed Lyman Rondeau.

The second piece, which I refer to as a companion piece to the first Boogaerts piece I received as a gift last year.

Like the first piece, it was an outdoor kinetic piece, described as a whimsical creation of steel and stainless steel, coated with penetrol and signed by the artist, Whitmore Boogaerts, on the bottom. It stands 3 ft. 7 in. high and 2 ft. 8 in. wide

Thank you very much, Alena.

Whitmore Boogaerts has named the two pieces, at my request, "Building Energy" and "Message Bubbles".
