I found Annabelle when I looked into ordering African violets. The online catalog picture of it looked so irresistible. It was listed as 'new' in the Southern Belle Series. Its characteristics are light-blue, bell-shaped flowers and medium-serrated, medium-green leaves. It arrived last week as a finished plant ($15 from Selective Gardener).

AnnaBelle was first introduced in 2006. Evidently there is an extremely active African violet community out there, according to a garden web forum. I was amazed to learn that the average enthusiast may have 100 African violets. I could very well understand why many people fell in love with this particular southern belle.

AnnaBelle, as all other African violets, is new to me. I love its delicate beauty and how the color changes in different lighting.

I hope to get to know her well and how to take good care of her in the weeks and months ahead.
