Calandiva has been dazzling lots of people who love Kalanchoe since it was commercially introduced in 2003.
My first encounter with Calandiva was in April 2005. I bought several plants in different shades of pink and orange from a nursery. They lasted several months, but I could not maintain or prolong its life span. I had not seen another one around until last Saturday.
I was at Trader Joe's, a relatively new store in Warwick, with the intention of getting some frozen, prepared food recommended by my daughter who lives in L.A. To my surprise, there was a plant section by the entrance door and the calandivas stood out among blooming daffodils, hyacinths and few others. A 4 in. pot cost about $4.
They look just beautiful with bright multiple petals and green, succulent leaves.
