Do you know that there are about 150 species of tulips?
Do you know that there are over 3,000 different registered varieties of cultivated tulips?
Do you know that tulips are the third-most-popular flowers after the rose and chrysanthemum?
Tulips come in varieties of heights, shapes, size and colors and some are fragrant.
Tulips are one of the most easily recognized and most loved flowers. I like the way this website compared tulips to a favorite pair of jeans or your mom's fresh-baked cookies. It also stated, "Tulips express genuine coziness and comfort in all the right way".
Tulips generally symbolize perfect love. Red tulips are associated with true love and yellow with hopeless love, while white tulips represent worthiness and forgiveness.
I've lost count of the number of new tulip bulbs planted last fall in my front yard. The old bulbs were moved to the backyard. It is also difficult to keep track of all the names of different types of regular tulips, peony tulips, parrot tulips and multiple, late blooming tulips.
No matter which variety they belong to, they are all tulips and each one is uniquely beautiful.
