Rudy triteleia is in the lily family The picture in the bulb catalog I saw back in the spring of 2007 was so irresistible. I instantly placed an order for fall shipping and planted them in my front garden by the edge of the front walk. It's now the second year that I'm enjoying the striking, purple-striped, small, up-facing, bell-shaped flowers which bloom in clusters on tall, strong stems above grass-like leaves. ( I wrote about it last year on the July 6 garden blog ). There are many flowers on one stem that helps extending the blooming period. I have just placed an order for 50 bulbs at Brent and Becky's bulb; so that next year I will have enough in the garden as well as to use it as cut flowers. Summer is a good time to order the bulbs for fall planting as the price usually goes up by mid-October. |
