I found the blue-eyed daisy (osteospermum) with spoon-shaped petals, a new hybrid
from Proven
Winners

The relatively small plants in 4-inch pots were quickly transplanted into the ground in full sun.

The two plants I purchased only did well for about two weeks..

They gradually produced fewer buds.

I also noticed that the petals of the new blooms no longer resembled spoons. One plant appeared to have gone into a dormant state, while the other seemed to be coming back; yet there are only two blooms on this plant right now.

"The spoon shape of the flower petals is partially dependent on temperature. Like most spoon-shaped flowers the petals may revert to normal petals when temperatures, especially night temperatures, get too warm." is what I have just read about this hybrid.

Well.. perhaps when the days get shorter and the nighttime temperature gets cooler I'll get to see lilac spoons once again.
