Yesterday I opened the box of an Amaryllis bulb that I purchased a few weeks ago from a local discount store and had been kept in a cool room.
I was so surprised to find a curled, all-white stem and small white leaf coming out of the relatively small bulb.
What am I supposed to do... ? Take it back, get a refund and a replacement. I have had many Amaryllis in the past. None looked like this.
I felt bad for the plant. Perhaps.. it could be rescued..
I decided to proceed with the growing instruction after taking a picture of the bulb with its roots and bent flower stalk; then placed the planter in the living room in a brighter and warmer spot.
This morning I moved it around to various spots to catch as much sunlight as possible.
The stem showed a tint of a light yellowish-green color and the inner buds - a pink color.
What am I to do.. but watch what happens!
